The Meaning Behind The Song: Numb by Jay Wile

Verse 1:
I’ve been thinking, I should start drinkin
(bombay maybe baby)
To replace the void that you leave when you go missin
And I’m missing all the feelings
(And I’m missing all the feelings)
Now i’m back to the beginning
(now i’m back to the beginning, yeah)
You change everything upside down
(you change everything upside down)

When you are away, (it’s like you’re never around)
How i feel about it I can’t say
But you’ve been playing games, it’s always been this way
It’s always been this way
Now i’m frustrated, (damn) cause I hate the way I feel and you hate being hated
Now we have to deal, now I have to deal but I

Hook:

Just want to feel something, anything, give me what you got, again
I want to feel something, anything, to make me feel good, so good
I want to feel something, anything, fill up my lungs, with you
I want to feel, nothing, nothing, I want to be numb, numb, numb

Verse 2:
We both know that, it’s too late. I
Fallen hard for you, it’s my own mistake. It’s
Not enough to just say goodbye, with a tear in my eye
We both know that, that i really need you
And we both know that, that i long to see you
But it’s best that, i can never see you again
Oh never again, cause I…

Hook:

Just want to feel something, anything, give me what you got, again
I want to feel something, anything, to make me feel good, so good
I want to feel something, anything, fill up my lungs, with you
I want to feel, nothing, nothing, I want to be numb, numb, numb

Outro:
I want to feel something, something yeah
Something, something
I want to feel something, something yeah
Something, something
I want to feel something, something yeah
Something, something

Personal Experience with the Song

This song, “Numb” by Jay Wile, holds a special place in my heart. When I first heard it, the lyrics resonated with me in a way that I hadn’t experienced before. The emotions conveyed in the song mirrored my own feelings of emptiness and longing.

At the time, I was going through a difficult phase in my life. I was feeling lost and disconnected from myself and those around me. The lyrics captured my struggle to fill the void left by someone’s absence and the frustration of playing games in a relationship.

Listening to “Numb” became a form of therapy for me. It allowed me to acknowledge my emotions and find solace in knowing that I wasn’t alone in my experiences. The raw authenticity of Jay Wile’s words spoke directly to my heart, and I found comfort in the realization that others have gone through similar struggles.

The song’s intense yearning to feel something, anything, struck a chord within me. It became a reminder to embrace vulnerability and seek out experiences that could bring joy and fulfillment. And while the desire to be numb can be tempting in moments of pain, the song also serves as a reminder that true growth and healing come from allowing ourselves to feel.

Overall, “Numb” by Jay Wile is a powerful and evocative song that captures the complexities of human emotions. It serves as a reminder to confront our pain, seek connection, and embrace the journey towards healing.

This song was the first I wrote for the EP back in early 2016. I was going through a lot, and I was stuck by myself away at school during winter break because I had to work.

This song was therapeutic for me and honestly, it wrote itself.
