Corsair HS60 Haptic Review

“War is Hell,” as the old saying goes. However, virtual war and online battlefields are extremely enjoyable. And one way to make sure virtual wars are enjoyable is with a good headset.

The demands are simple. Detailed and immersive sound, clear and constant communication, and comfort during extended periods of wear. To meet all these demands, Corsair developed the HS60 Haptic headset.

So, just how well does this headset fulfill the demands of veteran gamers?

Let’s find out in our in-depth Corsair HS60 Haptic Review…

Corsair HS60 Haptic
Our rating:4.1 out of 5 stars (4.1 / 5)

The Build and Design

At first glance, you will be able to see this a finely constructed headset. The sliders and yokes are made from durable aluminum that is lightweight as well as strong.

No fatigue during a long campaign…

Furthermore, the headband includes soft padding with thick stitching, which adds strength and longevity to the padding. As well as increasing the overall comfort and wearability.

Additionally, the ear cups feature plush and comfy memory foam. As a result, you get a distinct fit that allows you hours of comfortable wear and use.

Finally, the ear cups work to create greater sound immersion, allowing you to focus more on the game without external distractions.

A look all its own…

In terms of appearance, it could be a plus or a minus. The Arctic Camo finish will appeal to some but will put off others. However, it does not diminish the build quality.

That being said, you can rest assured that this headset is ready for a long slough on the battlefield of your choice.

Controls and Connections

First of all, this headset is wired, and there are no wireless or Bluetooth connectivity options. However, there are certain advantages to using a wired gaming headset.

For one thing, you will never have to worry about the battery or charging this headset. Secondly, a wired connection provides a more stable signal. Plus, there is no chance of signal interference from other WiFi devices.

Make it your own…

This headset connects to your computer via a USB cable. Therefore, you have the option to customize the EQ right on your PC. You can adjust the headphone settings as well as the microphone settings.

Customized equalization is handled by Corsair’s iCUE software. The software comes with optimized presets for various gaming platforms. It also gives the option to customize and save your own EQ levels and sound preference.

Easy operations…

Located on the headphones are controls for both volume and the microphone. The audio volume control is a simple fly-wheel. This makes it very easy to increase or decrease the volume right at your fingertips. There is a separate volume control for the mic that is also a fly-wheel. Plus, an independent mic mute button.

Both the volume controls are located towards the back of the headphones.

Sound and Performance

Now we get to the real meat of this headset. How does it sound? In a word, fantastic.

Rumble young man, rumble…

Corsair created a gaming headset that accentuates and refines the low-frequency rumbles of an active battlefield. Tactio Technology, in combination with high-quality hardware, allows you to feel the ground shake under your feet.

The headphones employ custom-tuned 50mm neodymium audio drives. The frequency response is a healthy 20 Hz – 20,000 Hz overall. However, Corsair’s Taction Technology boosts the low, mid, and high bass frequencies to higher levels. The result is a more defined and wider perception of all low-end sounds.

Altogether, you have a more immersive battlefield experience. Every blast, bullet, and bombardment come through with stunning detail.

Mind your flanks…

Adding to overall sound immersion is 360-degree audio. This headset is enabled with Windows Sonic, which gives the ability to experience surround sound through the headphones.

During the heat of battle, you can hear the action from every angle. In turn, this can give you an advantage over other combatants by being more aware of your surroundings.

Secure your coms…

Another nice feature of this headset is the microphone. It is a unidirectional mic with a frequency response of 10 Hz – 10,000 Hz. This helps to establish accurate and clear voice capture and reproduction.

Additionally, the mic is detachable and flexible. So, if you need to “go dark,” you can remove the mic until the mission is complete.

The mic also features excellent noise-cancelation. Therefore, your communications will not be interrupted by background noise.

Certified by Discord…

Another feature that makes this headset an essential gaming component is Discord certification. You can rest assured you and your team will remain in constant contact.

Discord ensures crystal-clear comms among all players. Furthermore, using Discord to communicate frees up RAM and CPU usage for the graphics card and gameplay.

Rather than communicating through the game itself, Discord is a separate platform dedicated solely for voice interaction. The growing popularity of Discord among gamers is another reason this headset is making people take notice.

About Warren Barrett

Warren has spent nearly half a century (now that's a long time!) as an ink-stained wretch writing for music magazines and websites and has no plans on giving up soon.

He is curious about all types of music and instruments apart from any genre with 'Urban' in the title. He's also not so keen on Plastic Potted Plants, Reality TV, and any movies with Kevin Costner in them.

He lives in Delaware with his wife Wendy and lots of great memories...
