Can You See Who Liked Your Playlist on Spotify?

Spotify is one of the world’s most popular platforms for sharing music. And one of the most popular features of Spotify is custom playlists. Getting songs featured on playlists is often how artists get discovered by new listeners.

So, let’s say you created a new custom playlist on Spotify and noticed that it’s getting a lot of attention. You would want to know who’s listening to and sharing your Spotify playlist, right? So, can you see who liked your playlist on Spotify?

Can You See Who Liked Your Playlist on Spotify

The Short Answer

Unfortunately, at the moment, there’s no way to find out who likes your Spotify playlist. When you post a playlist on Spotify, the only analytic you get access to is the number of likes for each of your playlists.

To view the number of likes for a playlist, log into your Spotify account, and select your library. Click on the profile icon and then click on “view profile” and select playlists. The total number of likes for each playlist will be displayed at the bottom of each one.

I could have sworn there was a way…

If you are an older Spotify user and you might remember being able to see who shared and liked your playlist on Spotify. Indeed, this used to be possible with Spotify, but the functionality was removed in 2013.

You can view the profiles of the people who follow your Spotify channel but not the individuals who like your Spotify playlist.

Will This Feature Return?

In my humble opinion, it is not smart to bet on this feature returning. Spotify users have been complaining about the loss of this feature since it was removed. Many users commented on forums and sent requests to Spotify asking for it to be brought back.

It’s been almost a decade…

An overwhelming number of users have asked Spotify to reinstate this feature. More than 22,000 votes were cast asking for this feature to be brought back. And more than 1,700 comments on the ticket asking for it to be made available again.

The last time Spotify addressed this issue in any form was back in 2019, and this was their response:

“We’re keeping this idea as ‘Not Right Now,’ because this isn’t something we have immediate plans to implement. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts, and if we do have any new info to share, rest assured we’ll check back in with a new status.”

Savvy?

Spotify made it clear that they are not planning on reinstating the feature any time soon. But, they did not give a reason as to why it was taken away in the first place. But, if you want to try to do your part, add your vote to that feature request and leave a comment asking Spotify why they haven’t added it yet.

There is no answer as to whether these platforms can force Spotify’s hand, but it can’t hurt. So, you might as well do it, right?

Can You See Who Liked Your Playlist on Spotify? – Workarounds

Workarounds

You will find a copious amount of clickbait online telling you that if you get the right app, or download the right registry editor, then you will be able to see who liked your Spotify playlist. The truth is that there is no way to see who viewed your Spotify playlists at the moment.

All those YouTube videos and articles are bogus. Trust me; I put in the hours.

Most of them suggest that you wait until your Spotify profile has a new follower. Then, you can compare your previous playlist like/follower counts to see if the person who just followed you also liked one of your playlists.

Does this work?

No, there is no way to tell if the one new follower is the same one that liked your playlist. This suggestion is laughably impractical. Who is going to sit in front of their computer all day constantly looking at Spotify’s like and view count?

Don’t waste your time looking for hacks. Believe me, if there was a hack for this, then thousands of people would have talked about it online already.

There are thousands of people who are hungry for this feature. Yet, nothing has gained traction. That’s because nothing works.

How to Check the Number of Spotify Playlist Likes or Followers on My Profile?

As mentioned, it is possible to see how people liked your playlist and how many people follow your profile on Spotify.

You can do this by opening the Spotify app and logging into your account. Then go to the “Your Library” section found at the bottom of the interface.

A list will appear containing all your recently played songs and artists that you have been listening to. The profile button will appear at the top with your chosen name. Click on this to open your profile page.

At the top of the interface…

Your name should now be displayed. Right beneath it will be an option to “view profile”; click on this. On the desktop version of the app, it will just say “profile.”

The next page will display all of your playlists, the people who are following you, and the people you are following. Click on “Playlists,” and a full list of the playlists that you have created will appear.

Below the title of each playlist, you will see a number displayed. This number indicates how many likes/followers the playlist has.

Something to note…

On the mobile Spotify app, the word “likes” is used, whereas, on the desktop version, the word “followers” is used. These two terms refer to the same thing. Additionally, on the desktop version of Spotify, the number of likes/followers will be displayed next to the playlist, not beneath it.

How Do I Check Who is Following Me on Spotify

How Do I Check

If you want to check who is following your Spotify profile, you can do so by following these steps:

  • Open the Spotify App and select “Your Library” at the bottom of the interface. This will pull up a list of recent songs that you’ve played as well as artists that you’ve listened to frequently.
  • At the top of the page, you will see your Spotify name. This is the profile button; click it to open the profile page. On the next page, click on or tap “view profile.” If you are using the desktop version, it will simply say “profile.”
  • You will see a full list of your playlists, your followers, and who you are following on Spotify. Click on followers, and you will see a detailed list of everyone following you on Spotify.

Can You See Who Liked Your Playlist on Spotify? – Final Thoughts

In 2013, Spotify removed the feature that lets you see who liked each playlist you posted. Despite many users asking for this to be returned, Spotify’s official position remains that it is unlikely to appear again soon.

And, regardless of what the internet clickbait says, there is no workaround for the lack of this feature on Spotify. Your only option is to add your voice with all the thousands of others online. Hopefully, the pressure on Spotify will be enough to force them to bring back this feature.

Until next time, happy listening.
