The Bowers & Wilkins PX7 are some of the best over ear headphones currently on the market. Designed and tuned by the same engineers that created the B&W 800 Series Diamond floor and shelf speakers. For those not in the know, the 800 Series Diamond speakers are highly sought after for their impressive soundstage.

The PX7 headphones are wireless and use the latest Bluetooth, Adaptive aptX, and other technologies to provide you with non-buffering streams of music for up to 30 hours on a single charge. The headband and arms are flexible and give a snug fit without applying pressure.

Build and Comfort

The headphones are light and use newer materials in their design to reduce unwanted pressure around the head and ears. With the Bowers & Wilkins logo on each side, the earcups are covered in woven cloth material. And have a soft leatherette material for the removable earpads.

The earcups are built around large 43mm drivers that push the sound forward, providing an impressive soundstage. The cups are large and will fit comfortably without crushing or rubbing around most ears. Therefore, they are some of the most comfortable wireless headphones available.

The earcups are connected to flexible carbon fiber arms that help reduce the clamping pressure of the headband. The carbon fiber material is strong enough to withstand rigorous twisting and turning without being damaged.

On the right earcup are the control buttons and USB-C port for charging and connecting. The left earcup has a single button for the active noise cancellation (ANC).

Set in between the volume up and down buttons is a multi-purpose button that takes some getting used to. Not only does it control basic audio functions, but it will answer, hang up, or mute a telephone call. All of this is determined by the number of times that you press the button.

Automatic operations…

Both earcups have active-wear sensors, and when you lift an earcup, the system will automatically pause the media. The sensors will also put the headphones into sleep mode when removed but not turned off.

When put back on, the phones will reconnect to the last Bluetooth connection and resume playing. This helps make them some of the best Bluetooth headphones around.

The PX7 can connect to two devices at the same time. So you can have a streaming device and a phone operating simultaneously. Just click the multi-function button to receive a call, and the streaming will pause. The streaming device automatically resumes when the call ends.

Noise isolation…

In normal mode, the PX7 has an ambient passthrough. It allows the wearer to hear their surroundings at a lower level, so you will be sure not to miss announcements or someone conversing with you.

Select multiple levels of noise cancellation using the ANC button on the left earcup. The ANC function uses intelligent sensing to determine your surroundings and will adapt to the environment. This is continuous and changes depending on the environment around you.

As a note, the higher the noise cancellation is set, you will feel an increase in pressure around your ears. Having said that, these are some of the best ANC wireless headphones you can buy.

The App

The B&W app can be downloaded from most platforms and is incredibly straightforward and simple to use. The app is good for keeping the firmware and codecs up to date, managing Bluetooth-connected devices, and customizing your settings.
