1 Amphony Model 300 Bluetooth Audio Receiver/Amplifier – Best Compact Receiver-Amplifier For Outdoor Speakers

If you live in an area where the weather conditions can change, there could be a problem. If you use your amp outside, then you might need to move it quickly. That is one of the reasons people love this little amp. To say it is compact is rather an understatement. It’s easily the smallest receiver-amplifier for outdoor speakers you can buy.

It measures less than four inches square and ¾ of an inch high and weighs less than one pound. If you did have to make a sudden run for cover, you could put it in your pocket. That’s because it’s one of the best lightweight receiver-amplifiers for outdoor speakers you can find.

The Features

Bluetooth capability is built-in, which means you can play your favorite streaming sites. It has a two by 40-watt amp, so it is capable of driving medium-sized speakers.

The design of the circuitry allows you to maintain a high output without having the problems of potential overload and distortion. Furthermore, it has a self-cooling chassis.

Warranty and More

This little amp comes with a one-year warranty from the manufacturer and a more than attractive price point. It also comes with an antenna and an AC adapter.

There are a couple of minor negative points. First, the range from your device can only be about eight feet. So it needs to be close. Secondly, there is a lack of tonal controls for the sound. Although, those are minor points. The sound is good with plenty there should you need it.

Amphony Model 300 Bluetooth Audio Receiver/Amplifier
Our rating:4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5)

Pros

  • Compact little unit with Bluetooth.
  • Forty watts per channel and a decent sound at a very cost-effective price.

Cons

  • Some may want more features.

2 Sunbuck 180W Wireless Bluetooth Stereo Amplifier – Most Durable Receiver-Amplifier for Outdoor Speakers

This is an amp that can be connected using any of the five available input options. That means you can hook it up to CD players, TVs, as well as your outdoor speakers. As a result, this amp doesn’t only serve to provide music to your outdoor events. It also could be the beginnings of a sound system or home theater system.

The Build

It has an all-metal chassis, so it has a rugged build. However, the speaker connections on the back are plastic, so a little care is needed. It measures 6.1 by 5.31 by 2.17 inches and weighs just over two pounds.

On the front is a small LCD giving current information, including the FM station you might be listening to. There are SD and USB-C connections as well as treble and bass controls. The large volume control has a nice blue halo ring that lights up.

It is a well-built little amplifier that is strong enough to be moved around. Making it one of the best portable receiver-amplifiers for outdoor speakers on the market.

The Features

The built-in Bluetooth has an approximately 40-foot range. It is a two-channel amp that gives you about 45 watts per channel RMS. The treble and bass controls give you an element of control over the sound. On the rear are the connections for two speakers and the RCA audio inputs. It has a one-click search option for FM channels.

This might be a budget amplifier, but it certainly has enough good features to give it some consideration. It is compact and quite lightweight and has a nice design that allows it to be used inside as well as out. It has a remote control, which is always a useful addition.

Sunbuck 180W Wireless Bluetooth Stereo Amplifier
Our rating:4.2 out of 5 stars (4.2 / 5)

Pros

  • Compact size but with a strong build with remote control.
  • Good connection options at a cost-effective price point.

Cons

  • An FM antenna might have been useful.

3 Sony STRDH190 2-ch Home Stereo Receiver – Most Versatile Receiver-Amplifier for Outdoor Speakers

No introductions are needed for Sony. One of the main players in the audio world. This is a great-looking machine that will give you excellent results wherever you use it.

The Build

This is not a lightweight, compact system at all. It measures 11 by 17 by 5.2 inches and weighs just over seventeen pounds. But what it costs you in space, it makes up for in performance. However, it does have a slimline, low-profile design which means it will fit into most storage cabinets.

Features

It has built-in Bluetooth so you can connect up your devices and use your playlists. And it has an FM radio with 30 presets for your favorite channels. An FM antenna is included.

You can connect up to four speakers at a time. And using the A/B switching function, you can play them all at once or choose separate zones. The two channels each deliver 100 watts at peak, about 50 watts RMS, so there is adequate power on hand. A nice addition is a remote control unit with two AA batteries.

The Connections

On the rear, there are four RCA inputs, four speaker connections, and a 3.5mm jack socket. This will accommodate a range of devices, including a DVD and MP3. There is also a phono socket. This will allow you to connect up a turntable if you choose so you can add the great sound of vinyl to your entertainment.

On the front, there is a large dial input selector and volume controls. Also, push-button controls for Bluetooth connection and FM tuning. The A/B options for speaker selection are located here, and there is a headphone jack socket.

By Sony standards, it is quite a basic amplifier. But seeing how it has most things you will need, it’s one of the most affordable receiver-amplifiers for outdoor speakers currently available.

Sony STRDH190 2-ch Home Stereo Receiver
Our rating:4.6 out of 5 stars (4.6 / 5)

Pros

  • Plenty of connection options and 100 watts per channel peak.
  • Sony builds quality at an attractive price.

Cons

  • Quite a large unit.

4 YAMAHA R-S202BL Stereo Receiver-Amplifier – Best Overall Receiver-Amplifier For Outdoor Speakers

Now we move on to another prominent name in the consumer world. These days Yamaha seems to make just about everything, but we are just looking at the R-S202BL Stereo Receiver. Certainly could be the best receiver-amplifier for outdoor speakers.

Simple Design

The aluminum body has been given a nice grey brushed effect which gives it an attractive look. It is quite a large unit measuring 12.63 by 17.13 by 5.5 inches and weighing just under 15 pounds.

It is a simple, basic design but very effective. The controls are kept to a minimum on the front panel. A large dial volume control plus some treble and bass rocker buttons. Controls for the AM/FM radio include tuning, and choosing one of the 40 station presets available.

There are also push-button selectors for speakers. As well as a headphone jack and an LCD screen giving you current usage information.

On the Rear

There are RCA connectors plus the connections for up to four speakers. The connections include links to a turntable if you want to hear some vinyl.

There is a remote control provided that has all the same functions you will find on the front panel. It is Bluetooth-enabled, so you can access your favorite music streaming sites or hook up to playlists on your devices.

While it might appear simple and basic, this amp has real quality and looks great. It is easy to use, and there is an ECO mode you can use to reduce the amount of energy consumption. Certainly not one of the cheapest you will find, but it is a very good amp.

YAMAHA R-S202BL Stereo Receiver-Amplifier
Our rating:4.5 out of 5 stars (4.5 / 5)

Pros

  • Well-built with a nice design and style.
  • Good sound with plenty of connection options.

Cons

  • Some might want more special features.

5 Pyle 4-Channel Bluetooth Home Power Amplifier – Most Powerful Receiver-Amplifier for Outdoor Speakers

Pyle has a bit of a reputation as far as I am concerned for being rather over-enthusiastic with their power claims. This amp is dressed up as a 2000-watt system. About the same as The Who used to use on stage for their PA in the 70s.

It is a four-channel amp, which, if the figures are correct, would give you 500 watts per channel, peak. That means the system is about 200-250 watts RMS per channel. Therefore, it’s one of the loudest receiver-amplifiers for outdoor speakers out there.

The Build

It is well-built and quite a size measuring 19.0 by 13.2 by 3.5 and weighing 19 pounds. The controls are neatly labeled, and I do like the blue-colored halos around the Master Volume and the four surrounding controls.

It is an amp that doesn’t seem to know what it is. There are inputs for mics, presumably for karaoke, but it is dressed up as an amp that is for your home stereo or home cinema system.

Bluetooth

Bluetooth is built-in to give you music streaming, or you can use your playlists from a smartphone, tablet, or computer.

The Connections

There are seven inputs supporting DVD, MP3, and CD and an AM/FM tuner that has a 2.4GHz antenna. There is also a built-in echo unit for use with the mic inputs. Plus two mono RCA’s for external speakers and an RCA preamp output.

Using the A/B selector, you can choose to use all the speakers or just a pairing. With all these options, this is one of the best multi connection receiver-amplifiers for outdoor speakers on the market.

Interestingly it comes with a remote control but not a power cable. It comes in at a cheap price point compared with some, which is probably about right.

Pyle 4-Channel Bluetooth Home Power Amplifier
Our rating:4.1 out of 5 stars (4.1 / 5)

Pros

  • Good strong build.
  • Some nice connections for a budget price amp.

Cons

  • No Power Cord.

6 Moukey Home Audio Amplifier Stereo Receiver – Best Budget Receiver-Amplifier for Outdoor Speakers

Our final look at amps for outdoor speakers is a budget range model from Moukey. It is designed for a range of activities both inside and out.

A nice compact size of 12.6 by 12.2 by 6.69 inches and weighs eight pounds, so it can be moved around if necessary. It can handle indoor systems well enough, but it seems to have been designed more with karaoke and the outdoor party in mind.

Features

It can deliver about 200-watt peak power. Which is 80-100 RMS, and quite loud enough for use at home. It has a Bluetooth 5.0 connection with a range of about 40 feet. Using that, you can stream your favorite music sites or the content on your Bluetooth-enabled phone or tablet.

There is a built-in LED screen on the front panel for information on current usage. It comes with a remote control and an FM antenna.

Connections

It has multiple input and output possibilities. Two RCA audio inputs can accept a CD player or a tape drive. There are two mic inputs and an output for headphones as well as a 3.5mm aux-in.

Controls

These are placed conveniently on the front with bass, treble, and balance controls and echo for the voices. There is a Master Volume, headphone output, and USB and SD inputs.

A simple-to-use amp that is well laid out and with plenty of power to run your karaoke party. And all at a very competitive price. If you are looking for a budget amplifier-receiver you should take a look.

Moukey Home Audio Amplifier Stereo Receiver
Our rating:4.3 out of 5 stars (4.3 / 5)

Pros

  • Good for outdoor and indoor use.
  • Plenty of power.
  • Ideal for karaoke.

Cons

  • Designed for parties more than simply listening.

Best Receiver-Amplifier For Outdoor Speakers – Buying Guide

Buying Guide

As is usual with these things, it depends on what you are going to use it for. Some just want a little outdoor music. A bit of background whilst entertaining. Some would recoil in horror at the thought of karaoke in the garden, but others would see it as an asset.

Do you want to link it up to other systems in the house? Or is it a stand-alone just for outdoor use? Deciding what it is actually for is the place to start. If you are going to move it around, or leave it near to the elements, it will need a rugged build. But it will also need to be relatively portable and compact.

Powering the speakers you have is another issue. But I presume you won’t be running Woodstock 3 in the garden, so average power ratings will suffice.

So, which of these Best Receiver-Amplifier For Outdoor Speakers should you Buy?

For me, that question has a simple answer. It would be difficult to choose between Sony and Yamaha, but the latter just gets the nod.

As the best, I would choose the…

Quality you can rely on.

Until next time, happy listening.

About Warren Barrett

Warren has spent nearly half a century (now that's a long time!) as an ink-stained wretch writing for music magazines and websites and has no plans on giving up soon.

He is curious about all types of music and instruments apart from any genre with 'Urban' in the title. He's also not so keen on Plastic Potted Plants, Reality TV, and any movies with Kevin Costner in them.

He lives in Delaware with his wife Wendy and lots of great memories...
