It was Rockford’s best seller at that time and for a while afterward. Rockford’s engineers handled the expectation well.
For the R2, and the rest of the series, for that matter, Rockford opted for a total from the ground-up redesign. The boldness of such a move is reflected in the new aesthetic. The new look makes a much bigger statement overall, but also makes for better presentation and comes with practical bonuses too.
Power and Control
The R2 is rated for 300W at 4ohm and 500W at 2ohm. There is a 12dB crossover. All the controls, to which we’ll be getting in a bit, are all well marked and practically laid out. The switches and dials have a good solid feel that makes you feel money’s been well spent.
It’s the same story at the back of the amp. All the inputs and outputs are nicely marked with bold white lettering. This might seem like something small to go on about, but you’d be surprised how little manufacturers think of these kinds of things. The angle of the power wire mounting. If you’re planning on mounting the amp flat, it’s going to make for a nasty bend in your wires. The Adio Control ACM 1.300 pairs fairly easily with OEM-style car stereos. As long as you don’t go biting off more than you can chew, you’ll have far above average bass in your ride. One of the highlights is how well this amp counteracts low-frequency bass roll-off, caused by most factory car stereos.

Functionality isn’t going to run pages either, but again what do you expect at this price range. RCA is the connectivity available on the D9701.
