Top 8 Best Guitar Wall Hangers On The Market 2020 Reviews

There is quite a lot of comment about hanging a guitar on the wall. And if you do decide on storing your guitar nicely on a wall, what are the Best Guitar Wall Hangers for the job? It certainly isn’t harmful to hang it on the wall in a specially designed hanger. There is a downward exertion of the weight of the guitar. But that is dispelled by the pull of the strings in the other direction.

In some environments, it is the only choice. A shop, for example, will need to display what they want to sell. Floor mounted guitar racks are ok but can end up with scratches on guitars just by being picked up and put back. Value lost.

Wall hangers seem to be the best option there. At home, some people like to display them, and in some studios, guitars are also displayed. Still, the safest place for a guitar is in a case with a humidifier where temperatures will not affect it. But, if you are going to hang it, then it needs to be secure.

So, let’s have a look at the Best Guitar Wall Hangers currently available and find the perfect one for you…

Top 8 Best Guitar Wall Hangers To Buy In 2020 Reviews

1 String Swing Wall Mount Guitar Hanger CC01K OAK

The String Swing hanger comes in a pack of four. They have wooden backs with two screw holes for fitting to the wall. The support arms are fitted to be strong and are padded to protect the instrument.

Versatile and adaptable…

They are suitable for use with acoustic and electric guitars and basses. Some sizes of banjo, ukulele, or mandolin might also fit. They are designed to hold the guitar at about 3-4 inches from the wall in a vertical position.

However, this does make them a little vulnerable, and care needs to be taken to not make any contact. This could dislodge the guitar from its hanger as the resting trough is not very deep.

Affordable…

They are supplied with special anchors for fitting to the drywall. These anchors are designed so that if you are fixing it to a stud wall, you can fix it without attaching them to the stud. Personally, we would not risk that with an expensive or vintage guitar.

They do the job though we are not sure about the varnished wood fixing. Reasonable price point and not too expensive.

String
Our rating:4.9 out of 5 stars (4.9 / 5)

Pros

  • An affordable way of hanging four different instruments
  • Takes guitar, bass, and possibly other instruments.

Cons

  • The yoke is not very deep, which makes the guitar vulnerable to accidental contact.

2 Gator Frameworks Wall Mounted Guitar Hanger

This is a nicely designed wall hanger from Gator Frameworks. It is made of good strong materials, has a sleek look to it, and will fit all electric guitars and basses. It will also fit the vast majority of classical guitars and may fit banjos and ukuleles depending on their size.

Installation is easy with two screws that attach the base plate to the wall. The cover plate fits over them to hide the base plate — all very neat and tidy.

Quality design…

The cradle has good depth and a decent upward turn. This will prevent the instrument from being accidentally knocked out of the yoke. The yoke itself is built on a swivel design allowing it to fit any headstock design and is rubber based. It, therefore, cradles the neck of the guitar easily and comfortably. An important issue is that it gives a comfortable clearance between the wall and the instrument.

Hardware for mounting is included. There is also a foam pad that fixes to the wall to reduce the risk of scratching.

Not for vintage finishes…

This wall hanger is ok for use with the usual polyurethane guitar finish. It is not, however, recommended for vintage guitars or those with a lacquer finish.

It has a very stable and solid metal construction, and at the price point is good value.

Gator Frameworks Wall Mounted Guitar Hanger
Our rating:4.3 out of 5 stars (4.3 / 5)

Pros

  • Nice design and easy wall fitting.
  • String and well made and an affordable price.

Cons

  • Not recommended for vintage guitars or those with a lacquer finish.

3 Top Stage Hardwood Home & Studio Guitar Hanger

Top Stage has come up with a budget solution for those that might want to hang a guitar on the wall. It has a woodblock mounting with two screw holes. Supplied are special plastic anchor screws that allow you to affix to a drywall without using the stud.

Worth checking…

However, you would have to check the stability of the fitting if you were going to hang an expensive guitar on the wall. If that is the case fixing straight to the stud might be the better option.

The hanging angle means that the guitar is vertical, approximately 3 inches from the wall. Therefore, care needs to be taken not to knock against it.

Rubber coated…

The opening of the yoke is 2.1 inches, so it is going to fit most guitars and bass guitars. It may be possible that it will also hold ukuleles or banjos. The yoke pivots to allow it to cradle any headstock shape. The rubber coating on the main metal skeleton of the hanger prevents any marks on the instruments. The yoke is made of a pliable metal so it can be bent to better fit an instrument.

At the price, it is a neat little holder. Quite adequate for hanging a guitar or bass. However, if it is an expensive instrument, we would think carefully first.

Top Stage Hardwood Home & Studio Guitar Hanger
Our rating:4.8 out of 5 stars (4.8 / 5)

Pros

  • Simple fitting.
  • Affordable price.

Cons

  • You will need to make sure the wall fitting is secure as it appears a little vulnerable.

4 Hercules GSP38WB Mountable Acoustic Guitar Wall Hanger

This is a guitar hanger for the wall that offers a little more security for the instrument. As with many other hangers, it has a solid wood natural finish block base. The base fits tow the wall using two screw fittings. It is a well-made unit capable of holding up to 30 pounds. A Fender Precision Bass is about ten pounds.

The question would be if you had an expensive item, whether you would take the risk. In that case, we think we make sure the fitting went straight to the stud of drywall if you were using drywall. Just to be sure.

Get a grip…

The yoke has an auto swivel design that will rotate to allow a variety of shapes of guitars to fit. One big asset this hanger has is the Autogrip design of the yoke. The idea is that it holds the instrument safely and securely.

One of the big problems with wall hanging guitars is their security. If they are accidentally knocked the guitar can pop out of the yoke and …crash. This Autogrip system gets hold of the guitar and hangs on to it. The yoke is covered with a foam padding that ensures the guitar will not be scratched.

This is a good system and could well make it the best electric guitar wall hanger. It is more expensive, though, but then what is a little bit extra to protect your instrument.

Hercules GSP38WB Mountable Acoustic Guitar Wall Hanger
Our rating:5 out of 5 stars (5 / 5)

Pros

  • Well made with strong materials.
  • Autogrip system holds the instrument firmly.

Cons

  • A little more expensive than most.

5 Laser Cut & Engraved Guitar Hanger

We are tempted to say it takes all sorts, and we suppose it does. We really don’t mean to be cynical, but we wonder what on earth the product focus groups or the marketing people are thinking. I suppose they must find it attractive whereas a good percentage of people will find it well, shall we say not to their taste.

But, the guitar hanger has more to it than just its appearance, so let’s try and forget that and have a look at its practicality.

Moving on…

They are claimed to be strong and sturdy and will support the heaviest guitars. A weight limit of up to 20 pounds. Other wall hangers do go a bit higher than that, but that is adequate. The yoke is not very deep, and therefore the instrument is at risk of being accidentally knocked out. It is padded, though, but we suppose you would expect that. It attaches to the wall using two screws.

The yoke would be a worry as it is suggested you pull it wider or clamp it closer to make it fit your instrument. We think we would need a little more strength in it than that.

Bit of a novelty…

The price point is rather on the high side for what could be described as a novelty item. We suppose it will appeal to some.

Laser Cut & Engraved Guitar Hanger
Our rating:4.9 out of 5 stars (4.9 / 5)

Pros

  • Nothing really that deserves a mention unless you love Lions?

Cons

  • The price will put most people off.

6 Top Stage Acoustic Guitar Stand

Top Stage has come up with what looks like a very nice acoustic guitar wall mount. Although it is designed to be a wall hanger for an acoustic instrument, it will also take electric guitars and basses. It is easily mounted to the wall and included are the necessary screws and plugs needed. It is an unobtrusive hanger with a small discreet fitting.

Good protection…

The arms of the yoke can be rotated and are given a rubber coating to protect the instrument. The arms are flexible and so can be bent into a shape to suit any guitar.

However, there are some concerns, though, with this hanger. The arms extending are not angled up, nor do they have an upturned lip. Does this leave the guitar at some risk of just falling off? We would think so. The arms, though, are quite long, so maybe not.

We would have thought that might have been a design consideration given that instruments need to be protected.

Affordable but slightly concerning…

It is a very affordable option, though, and it is quite well made; we would just be concerned about instrument security.

Top Stage Acoustic Guitar Stand
Our rating:4.5 out of 5 stars (4.5 / 5)

Pros

  • Very affordable.
  • Nice unobtrusive design.

Cons

  • The yoke support arms do not seem to offer much protection for the instrument.

7 Tetra-Teknica Hardwood Home & Studio Guitar Hanger

This offering from Tetra-Teknica is a pack of two guitar wall hangers. They have a solid wood block base with two screw holes for fitting to the walls. And are easy to put together, and the package includes all the anchors and screws for use in drywalls. They are suitable for electric guitars and basses but may also take ukuleles and banjos depending on head and neck size.

Not the best-looking design…

The yoke is well padded to protect the instrument from scratches. They are not the most appealing design visually, and the blocks look like they have been leftover from another project. The yokes, on the other hand, are well made and have a sturdy look about them. They turn up at the ends to hold the guitar in place, which is a good design feature.

The serrated edges are made of soft rubber.

Affordable, but we are really not sure about the looks…

As guitar wall hooks, they are an affordable option. The yoke has a nice quality and is well made and looks strong enough to hold the instrument. As we said, though, the base blocks of wood resemble something leftover from something else and put to use here. They are though a reasonable pair of budget level hangers.

Tetra-Teknica Hardwood Home & Studio Guitar Hanger
Our rating:4.5 out of 5 stars (4.5 / 5)

Pros

  • Affordable price.
  • Secure yoke hanging design.

Cons

  • Not particularly appealing to the eye.

8 Grip Studios GuitarGrip Silver Metallic

I suppose we should at this point be making a pun about ‘getting a grip’, never mind. This is another one of those designs that people will either like, find amusing, or perhaps wonder what the designers were thinking. If you came down in the night and forgot it was there, it is likely to frighten the life out of you.

It is clearly a male hand so we would be surprised if there haven’t been any questions from the ladies. Quite right, there should be.

Visual appeal or lack of it aside; how does it work?

Despite its rather rugged and rough look, it is made of a resin material that is then painted. The inside where contact is made with the instrument has a rubber padding.

It is built to swivel around to fit any headstock and also has padding at its base to give protection to the wall. It is an interesting design that some will like, and others won’t. But we doubt anyone will appreciate the price.

Novelty or quality?

It does not look particularly stable, and if we are honest, not something we would hang an expensive guitar on. Fitting is not that difficult, though a little more awkward than conventional hangers. We are not sure if it is a serious attempt at making a great guitar hanger. Or maybe they are making a novelty item for a bit of fun.

It does its job quite well, but at the price is not what you would call value for money.

Grip Studios GuitarGrip Silver Metallic
Our rating:4.5 out of 5 stars (4.5 / 5)

Pros

  • Will hold heavy guitars.

Cons

  • An expensive option.
