Top 8 Best Bluetooth Audio Transmitters for TV in 2022 Review

The ever-changing world of technology has a direct impact on how we spend our time. One way it has done that is to offer a new way of using our TVs. A Dutchman’s invention while working for a Swedish company, Ericsson, brought us Bluetooth. A creation with far-reaching effects.

We can use it for a variety of activities. But for this article, we are looking at finding the best Bluetooth audio transmitters for TV. In it, I will try to consider some of the important issues.

  • Signal strength.
  • Audio quality.
  • Latency.
  • Range.
  • Connection Options.

Plus a range of other considerations you might need to look at before buying. Before we start, let us just clarify…

What is a Bluetooth Audio Transmitter?

It is a simple idea. The Bluetooth transmitter takes the signal from an audio device and wirelessly transmits it. And that’s all it does; it just sends the signal. If you have a TV that hasn’t got built-in Bluetooth, the problem is solved.

They are also a good idea for enabling wireless headphones in the house. If you have a pair of Bluetooth headphones, it is likely they will be compatible. You won’t have to buy another set. So let’s take a look and see what we can find.

1 Avantree Oasis Plus Certified aptX HD – Most Versatile Bluetooth Audio Transmitter for TV

Let’s make a start with this impressive transmitter from Avantree. It is a compact little unit measuring just 4.49 by 2.95 by 1.18 inches and weighing just over three ounces.

Versatile

One of the great assets of this transmitter is its versatility. This is is one of the best Bluetooth audio transmitters for any TV or sound system. Unlike many similar transmitters, this has a range of options and will work with RCA, AUX outputs as well as Digital Optical.

The Oasis Plus has Bluetooth 5.0. It has an impressive range of almost 300 feet, providing you have a line of sight. That is considerably further than many of its competitors. As a result, it’s one of the best Bluetooth signal range audio transmitters for TV you can buy.

And to prevent latency from harming your TV viewing, this transmitter supports aptX HD codec, which delivers low-latency performance.

Other Advantages

A good addition is the Oasis Plus has a built-in Bluetooth bypass function. This is a useful feature as you can send the audio to both a soundbar and to headphones at the same time. Listeners will then have independent control over the volume.

Increasing the Range

This system goes a bit further than acting as just a Bluetooth transmitter. It will transmit non-Bluetooth audio sources, of course. But It can also increase the range of existing Bluetooth devices you may have in the house. This will increase your connectivity and transmit across a wider area.

Easy To Use

It has a simple touchscreen for control, and it also has a voice prompt. This will not only work with the TV but also with your iPod, PC, and home stereo system.

A good transmitter at a very attractive price point. Therefore, it should easily be considered as one of the best Bluetooth audio transmitters for TV.

Avantree Oasis Plus Certified aptX HD
Our rating:4.3 out of 5 stars (4.3 / 5)

Pros

  • A good range up to nearly 300 feet in line of sight.
  • Bluetooth 5 supporting aptX HD codec.

Cons

  • Range drops considerably without a line of sight.

2 1Mii B03 – Best Compact Bluetooth Audio Transmitter for TV

This transmitter for TV from 1Mii would be another good choice. Again like the Avantree, it has good range and compatibility and has some very good features built-in.

The Build

This is a compact little transmitter measuring just 5 by 3.7 by 1.1 inches and weighing only 3.5 ounces. It has a simple and easy-to-use design. There is a touchscreen with nine options, including Bluetooth status and two antennas.

There are also four pushbuttons for Bluetooth connection, a Power button, and up and down volume controls. The two antennas are built-in to ensure you get uninterrupted audio. Making this one of the easiest to use Bluetooth audio transmitters for TV you can find.

Some Good Functional Features

It operates Bluetooth 5.0 and supports an aptX low-latency codec. The advantage of a low-latency codec is that it will remove any sync problems caused by audio and visual lagging.

If you happen to have other Bluetooth devices, the 1Mii B03 provides a boost to their range. You can receive and then amplify the signal.

Bypass Function

There is also a bypass function that lets you have a wired connection between two separate sources. This is a convenient feature as it will save you time and hassle unplugging and plugging devices in and out. Saves a bit of wear and tear on the cables and plugs as well, so they will last a bit longer.

This system also offers support for multiple headsets. You won’t have to disturb the family while you watch a movie in silence.

A Decent Range

You can expect to get about 220 feet outdoors or 110 feet of range indoors. It is compatible with Analog, AUX, and Digital Optical connections and is mains operated.

I should point out that the aptX low latency function will require a compatible headset. A decent system at a good price point.

1Mii B03
Our rating:4.2 out of 5 stars (4.2 / 5)

Pros

  • Support for multiple headsets with good connectivity options.
  • Bypass mode with the option of aptX low-latency.

Cons

  • No remote control.

3 TAOTRONIC – Best Portable Bluetooth Audio Transmitter for TV

If you are looking for a compact battery-operated Bluetooth transmitter-receiver, then you might like the Taotronic Transmitter and receiver.

Small and compact, it certainly is with a built-in battery that will give you about ten hours of user time. A useful feature is that it can be used while it is charging. That could be useful on a long journey, which makes it one of the best Bluetooth audio transmitters for traveling.

Functions

These are quite basic but useful. As a receiver, it will take the Bluetooth signals and convert them for use in standard wired outputs. You will then be able to transmit any audio on a phone to devices that have no Bluetooth input. It will also connect up to an Xbox One or a Nintendo switch. As a result, it’s also one of the best Bluetooth audio transmitters for gaming.

As a transmitter, you can plug it into any 3.5mm jack audio output. It will then make these devices operate with Bluetooth. This could include mp3 and CD players or even older phones that have no Bluetooth built-in.

The Aim is Good Quality

It has Bluetooth 5.0 with low-latency support but doesn’t support Dual Link. The aim is to bring you good quality connections in a unit that is portable and cost-effective.

Some Potential Negatives

There are potential negatives with a transmitter receiver like this. Battery life is one, as is the potential range. You are likely to just get 33 feet of range from this unit.

That will be okay in the car and your house if you can keep within distance. Not so good for larger rooms and open spaces. An adequate little transmitter-receiver but will, by its design, be potentially prone to a few problems.

TAOTRONIC
Our rating:3.5 out of 5 stars (3.5 / 5)

Pros

  • Compact and portable at a cost-effective price.
  • Works with several games consoles and other devices.

Cons

  • Battery life and range could present problems.

4 ZIIDOO – Best Budget Bluetooth Audio Transmitter for TV

This is another very portable compact battery-operated Bluetooth transmitter receiver. If you are looking for a Bluetooth device you can carry in your pocket; this is another unit worth a look at.

Some Limitations, But Also a Useful Extra

There are usually a few limitations with transmitter-receivers like this. I think that is something you should expect.

Range

Firstly, you are usually limited in the amount of range available. It is usually only about 33 feet but could be as little as 15 feet, depending on the environment. That will suffice in some situations but not in others.

Battery

Secondly, the length of time you can expect the battery to function. There will be claims about such things, and to be fair, most are fairly accurate. In this case, it is set at about six hours. But as the battery dies, you will experience a weaker signal. That will affect performance.

It is possible to extend the battery life if you can plug it into a secure USB connection. If you can manage that, you won’t have to worry about the battery dying on you.

The Useful Extra?

There is a useful extra with this transmitter receiver – a built-in microphone. You tend to only get that feature on the more expensive items, so that is a useful plus. Making this one of the most affordable Bluetooth transmitters with a microphone on the market.

It is quite an adaptable unit and easy to switch between transmit and receive just with the flick of a switch. But another downside is that it doesn’t enjoy aptX support, so that will affect lip-sync. And it will only output your sound in Mono, which won’t help the viewing experience. A cheap portable option for those who may be looking for that.

ZIIDOO
Our rating:3.9 out of 5 stars (3.9 / 5)

Pros

  • Automatically connect when a device is in range.
  • Built-in Mic and good value for the money.

Cons

  • Poor range and battery life.

5 Avantree Audikast Plus – Best Lightweight Bluetooth Transmitter for TV

Returning to Avantree, this is a similar model to the Oasis Plus we already looked at. This model, though, is slightly more compact, measuring 2.64 by 2.2 by 0.67 inches and weighing 1.5 ounces. It is also a bit cheaper.

A Cost-Effective Choice

It might be a slightly cheaper model, but it is still packed with good features. It has Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX low latency support. An important feature for gamers and those using it for home cinema.

It also has plenty of compatibilities and operates with Digital Optical, USB, RCA, and Aux. That makes it a good choice for use with various devices.

Range

One thing you can usually expect from Avantree Bluetooth products is a good operating range. This transmitter-receiver is no different and offers a range of up to 100 feet.

Unlike the Oasis Plus, there are no visible antennas with this device; they are built inside. Fortunately, that doesn’t seem to affect the operating range.

The Controls

On top are simple user buttons to control Bluetooth pairing, headphones access, and volume. There are also selections for Optical, Aux, and USB, as well as status indicator lights. On the rear connections for Digital Optical, Aux, and power off and on.

It is small and understated but informative and has a backlit LED in blue. If you want a negative, it is that you can only use two sets of headphones. Some may need more.

Another good transmitter receiver from Avantree. And another contender to be one of the best Bluetooth audio transmitters for TV.

Avantree Audikast Plus
Our rating:4.3 out of 5 stars (4.3 / 5)

Pros

  • Easy to use, well-laid-out controls.
  • Bluetooth 5, aptX with low latency at a cost-effective price point.

Cons

  • There are only options for two sets of headphones.

6 Anker Soundsync A3341 – Best Battery Life Bluetooth Transmitter for TV

Let’s return to another device that is described as portable. The design is quite a bit different from the previous two portable options. It looks more like it is supposed to stay in one place.

It measures 2.8 by 0.9 by 2.9 inches and weighs five ounces. That is a compact size that isn’t going to take up room. The design is simple but very stylish.

Battery Life

The amount of time the battery will give you is one of the highlights of this transmitter-receiver. When you are using it as a receiver, you can expect to get about 17.5 hours.

That is quite a bit more than some others we have looked at. However, the price point of this unit is higher. As a transmitter, the battery gives you a bit more at about 20 hours.

It is a Li-Polymer battery, and a full charge will take about two hours. But the manufacturers do not recommend you leave it charging while in use. They infer this could damage the battery if used this way over some time.

The Connections

It has Bluetooth 5.0 and supports aptX low latency to ensure there are no syncing problems while watching movies. If you are using it for TV, that makes this a good choice. And if a home theater system is what you will use it for, it also has Aux, Optical, and RCA connections.

The Range

If there is one area that lets this device down, it is the range. It has a maximum of only 33 feet which is less than a lot of its competitors at this price point.

But it is similar to other portable units we have looked at. If that is not a problem, then this is a decent investment. If you are set on a portable device, then this could be the best Bluetooth audio transmitter for TV.

Anker Soundsync A3341
Our rating:4.2 out of 5 stars (4.2 / 5)

Pros

  • Nice stylish design with good Bluetooth connection and aptX.
  • Plenty of connection options at a reasonable price point.

Cons

  • Lack of range is the only issue.

7 Miccus – Most Durable Bluetooth Transmitter for TV

From a transmitter-receiver with a very short range to this offering from Miccus. This device can provide quality audio using Class 1 technology over a range of 300 feet if you have a line of sight. If not, you will still achieve a creditable 150 feet.

So if you hold garden parties or want some music around the pool, this could be the device that provides it. That’s because it’s one of the best long range Bluetooth transmitters for TV you can buy.

The Connections

The Miccus has Bluetooth 5.1, HDMI support, and aptX-HD for low-latency performance. With no lip-sync problems, it makes it ideal for TV or gaming. However, the paired device does need to support aptX low latency. Furthermore, it can use Bluetooth or wired devices. There are input and output connections for Digital optical, RCA, and AUX.

The Design

It has a simple and very plain design that is easy to set up, courtesy of voice prompts and LED indicators. You will need to be careful about where the device is placed to get the maximum range. As a device, it has multiple uses which cover just about everything you will need for TV, gaming, and home entertainment.

Miccus
Our rating:4.5 out of 5 stars (4.5 / 5)

Pros

  • Has a very good range.
  • Versatile unit with Bluetooth 5.1 and aptX low-latency.
  • Construction is particularly rugged.

Cons

  • None.

8 Avantree Oasis B – Best Value for the Money Bluetooth Audio Transmitter for TV

To finish our look at Bluetooth audio transmitters for TV, we go back again to Avantree. This is the Avantree Oasis B. One thing that is very apparent when looking at their products is that they produce good quality at an attractive price. You will get a decent transmitter but won’t have to break the bank.

The Build

It is quite an attractively designed and compact unit. It measures 4.49 by 2.95 by 1.18 inches and weighs just over 3 ounces. Unlike most other devices we have looked at, you can choose the color to suit your home decor, either grey or white.

On top of the unit is a large screen that has most of the controls and information you will need. Also, an antenna that helps provide a great reception.

The Connections

It has Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX low latency and also AUX, RCA, and Digital Optical options. There is a bypass function that allows you to switch easily between your primary sound system to headphones.

The Range

As with most Avantree products, the range is good. The Oasis B has a range of about 164 feet. That would allow you to have some music outside for outdoor events. A decent line of sight will be required to achieve the maximum range.

Included in the package are the following cables:

  • USB power.
  • 3.5mm audio cable.
  • Optical cable.
  • 3.5mm to RCA cable, female to male.

This is another good system from Avantree that also has an attractive style.

Avantree Oasis B
Our rating:4.3 out of 5 stars (4.3 / 5)

Pros

  • Good range with plenty of connection options.
  • Good features include aptX low latency, and bypass.

Cons

  • No remote control.

Best Bluetooth Audio Transmitters for TV – Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Which version of Bluetooth will Be Best?

You may find some transmitter-receivers that still operate with Bluetooth 4.0, but most now have Bluetooth 5.0 or 5.1. Bluetooth 4 will be okay if you achieve a decent power source. But Bluetooth 5 and above do offer lower latency and are not such a drain on your batteries if you are using them.

What Range Should I Look For?

The obvious answer is as far as possible. But you may find you have to pay more to get a longer range. If you are only going to use it over short distances, then a shorter range will be fine and will save you a bit of money.

Is It Important To Have A Variety Of Connections?

The more connection options you have, the more variety you will have for its use. It simply means you will be able to connect up to more devices.

Do I Need Voice Control?

If you are planning to make telephone calls and want to use Bluetooth-enabled headphones, you should see if the transmitter receiver comes with a mic. Many do not cover this feature; however, there was one portable device in my review that did.

Any Special Features Required For Use with a TV?

Yes, there are. If you are going to use the transmitter receiver as a part of your home entertainment system, there is one important issue to consider. You will need to avoid problems with lip sync.

If you are unfamiliar with that, it is simply when the visual of someone speaking in a movie doesn’t match up with the sound. Infuriating. To avoid this, you will probably need systems with Bluetooth 5.0. But more importantly, they must support an aptX codec with low latency. And low-latency is the key phrase you should look for.

What are the Best Bluetooth Audio Transmitters for TV?

There are some very good systems out there, and I have just covered a few. I have tried to include a variety of uses, either fixed at home, portable, or even dual-purpose.

For me, I would only ever use it at home. Therefore, I would prefer a Bluetooth 5.0 system with aptX low-latency. But, I would also like it to look attractive and fit in my room. So, I would choose the…

Avantree Oasis B

A good system with a decent range and everything that I would need at a reasonable price.

Until next time, happy listening.

About Warren Barrett

Warren has spent nearly half a century (now that's a long time!) as an ink-stained wretch writing for music magazines and websites and has no plans on giving up soon.

He is curious about all types of music and instruments apart from any genre with 'Urban' in the title. He's also not so keen on Plastic Potted Plants, Reality TV, and any movies with Kevin Costner in them.

He lives in Delaware with his wife Wendy and lots of great memories...
