Top 9 Best Blue Snowball Mic Stands 2022 Review

The Blue Snowball has seen unrivaled success. It’s a simple, well-made, easy to use, and above all, affordable and great-sounding USB microphone.

The Snowball is named because it resembles, well, a ball. When first released was available only in white. Many others colors have since been introduced, likely due to so many users choosing this mic for their content creation.

The Snowball offers simple plug-and-play connectivity via a USB cable and can be used to record anything. There are up to three pickup patterns to choose from, which only adds to the microphone’s versatility and long-term value.

There’s one main drawback…

The lack of a proper stand or tripod. Thousands of users praise the microphone’s simplicity, build quality, and excellent sound for such an affordable price. But, they are unhappy with the cheap little three-legged stand included with the Blue Snowball.

The entire thing is made of plastic, which is the first big no-no when you are looking for something to mount a mic on. Secondly, it’s so short it doesn’t have much practical value. Even when placed right in front of the user, you have to tilt the microphone up to get a decent result.

The legs are squeaky, and they have a lot of wiggle room when extended to their fullest. And, you don’t want anything that squeaks or rattles on a piece of audio equipment.

What can be done?

Anyone who owns a Blue Snowball has likely switched to using a different mic stand, boom arm, or tripod. Perhaps you’ve acquired a Snowball and now realized this abominable fact. You’re going to need a mic stand for the Blue Snowball

Luckily, I’m the kind of guy who spends hours in the store, annoying all the staff because I ask questions about almost everything but rarely buy anything. The reason I do this is to help you make the right buying decision before you make two or three bad ones.

With that said, let’s have a look at what I deemed the Best Blue Snowball Mic Stands.

Why Do You Need A Blue Snowball Microphone Stand?

Well, since the tripod that comes with the Snowball is of such poor quality, it does make the microphone a bit useless, no matter how good it sounds. The reason for this is quite simple.

A microphone, no matter which one, will only perform as well as it’s allowed to. And this begins with whichever boom or stand it’s attached to.

If you plan on being taken seriously when you upload or stream your content to the world, you need to sound professional. Depending on your recording situation and requirements, you may need a different type of stand, which is worth taking into account.

Benefits of a Good Mic Stand

Microphone stands allow you to do so much more than just free up your hands to fiddle with during a podcast or recording. Of course, any musician or producer already knows this.

Microphone stands to keep a microphone still, absorb vibrations, and allow us to angle our mic to the optimum positions for recording. They can also help for aesthetic purposes. For example, when using a boom, you can have your microphone mounted above you and out of shot.

The type of stand or boom you end up getting will depend entirely on your needs and/or preferences. So, it’s good to know what types there are and some of the options available.

Thread Size and Adapter

Something to consider when making your decision is the size of the thread. The Snowball microphone has a standard ⅝-inch hole on the bottom. Luckily, this is the size you’ll see on most microphone stands, etc.

But should you prefer a stand or boom that uses the less abundant ⅜-inch thread, you will have to purchase an adapter for female ⅜ to male ⅝.

So, without any further ado, let’s get into the Best Blue Snowball Mic Stands.

1 RODE PSA 1 Swivel Mount Studio Microphone Boom Arm – Most Versatile Blue Snowball Mic Stand

The Rode PSA 1 can be considered as the workhorse stand for any recording environment. This is a studio-grade, professional microphone stand for a Blue Snowball

It is made to an exceptionally high standard. Furthermore, it allows for a multitude of practical applications to meet the needs of any recording situation.

The Rode has the quietest spring mechanism I’ve ever tested on a mic stand. It makes virtually no noise when the microphone arm is extended or retracted. One of the giveaways of a cheaply made mic stand is loud springs. This is one of the quietest Blue Snowball mic stands you can buy.

Positioning and Placement

The PSA 1 can handle a load of up to 4.4lbs or around 1.9kg. This makes it more than capable of taking the weight of the Snowball. Additionally, there’s a handy locking mechanism to ensure there’s no sliding or unnecessary wear on the springs.

The PSA 1 has a reach of 32.5 inches, both vertical and horizontally. It can rotate 360 degrees and has a two-axis swivel mount to allow for precise placement and angling of the microphone.

As a bonus, the PSA 1 comes with a ⅜-inch adaptor, so you’ve got one should you need it. The stand can be mounted to any desk or surface via the clamp or the suction cup. All of which make the PSA a very versatile tool for anyone who uses microphones.

RODE PSA 1 Swivel Mount Studio Microphone Boom Arm
Our rating:4.8 out of 5 stars (4.8 / 5)

Pros

  • Well-made.
  • Very easy to use.
  • Highly versatile.
  • No spring noise.
  • Two opinions for mounting.

Cons

  • Costs almost twice as much as the Snowball mic.

2 InnoGear Microphone Arm Stand – Best Scissor Arm Blue Snowball Mic Stand

Coming down in price by about half, the InnoGear is barking down the same alleyway as the PSA 1. But, it comes in at a much more affordable price for users who only need something for their Snowball. However, this doesn’t mean it can’t be used for any number of recording purposes.

The InnoGear may be cheap compared to higher-end mic stands in the same class, but it is by no means cheaply made. It is well-built and made from high-quality steel. And, unlike most stands that have exposed springs, the Innogear has a built-in system. So, none are visible, and they make less noise since they’re isolated.

Single Scissor Arm Design

This can handle up to 4.4lbs, or around 1.9kg. The Innogear can be rotated 360 degrees and has a scissor arm length of 19 inches. It has a total reach of around 38 inches horizontally and 33.5 inches vertically.

The square tubing construction is 0.53 inches in diameter, which is quite a bit larger than the usual standard of 0.39 inches. While the Innogear is still very light and portable, it’s nice to know that added strength and stability are built-in. Especially at this price range.

There is a downside…

The locking mechanism on the joints can be frustrating. It’s not the best in the world but is more than capable of getting the job done. You just have to put a lot of elbow into it, which can sometimes be tiresome.

The InnoGear comes in two sizes. So, if you know you’re only going to need it for one specific situation, you can opt for the medium size version, which comes in at around $42. Otherwise, the large version goes for about $55. Neither of which can be considered outrageous for what you’re getting.

InnoGear Microphone Arm Stand
Our rating:4.6 out of 5 stars (4.6 / 5)

Pros

  • Affordable.
  • Well-made.
  • Easy to use.
  • Built-in spring design.
  • Comes in two size options.

Cons

  • The locking mechanism can be tedious.

3 Gator Frameworks Microphone Stands – Best Weighted Base Blue Snowball Mic Stand

The name of Gator Frameworks should be nothing strange to anyone in the audio industry. They’ve been around a while, and for one very good reason, they make stuff that just works. The Short Weighted Base Mic Stand has many options and prices to help users acquire just want they need.

Standard and Deluxe Options

First is the standard weighted base that comes in at around $40. This comes with a single section boom arm that is 16 inches in length.

Then, there’s the Deluxe Weighted Base. It comes with the same base but has a longer telescoping boom arm with a 2.5lb counterweight. Therefore, a full arm extension can handle a mic of up to 1.5lbs. This option comes in at around $69.

Tripod and Pop Filter Options

This comes in at around $69 and features the same telescoping boom arm as the deluxe weighted option. The tripod stand is collapsible and has a max height of 42 inches, or 1066mm.

Finally, there is the weighted base + Pop Filter option. It’s identical to the first option, except that there is a high-quality pop filter included with the stand. This is not to be scoffed at since no filter of any kind is included with the Snowball microphone, so you will need one.

Whichever one you choose…

The fact that they bear the Gator Frameworks name ensures they are well-made and durable Blue Snowball mic stands. The prices are competitive, and the various options mean anyone can get what they need without having to sacrifice build quality.

Gator Frameworks Microphone Stands
Our rating:4.6 out of 5 stars (4.6 / 5)

  • Made to last.
  • Buy the exact option you need.

Cons

  • None.

4 LyxPro Tripod Microphone Stand & Boom Arm – Easiest To Use Blue Snowball Mic Stand

Our first tripod option on this list of the best Blue Snowball mic stands is a simple and trusted one. If you plan on mounting your Snowball above your head or close to your face without having to stand on your desk, the LyxPro is your go-to mic stand.

The tripod base has a solid weight to it. This means the tripod will stand firm and secure. Furthermore, setting the LyxPro to the right height is super easy, thanks to rubberized grips around the fastening joints.

Balanced and big…

There is also a big round plastic locking knob to tighten the joint where the boom arm meats the tripod base. Additionally, there are three cable clips and a counterweight on the boom arm.

The height can be adjusted between 38.5 inches and 66 inches. Additionally, the length of the boom arm is 29 inches. The LyxPro is equipped with both ⅝-inch and ⅜-inch thread adaptors.

If you buy a single LyxPro, it’ll set you back around $35. However, if you happen to use a lot of mics, there is a six-pack option which comes in at around $175. So, if you work that out per stand, it’s a bargain and leaves you with plenty of backups.

LyxPro Tripod Microphone Stand & Boom Arm
Our rating:4.4 out of 5 stars (4.4 / 5)

Pros

  • Lightweight and portable.
  • Easy to assemble and use.
  • Affordable.
  • Well built.
  • Comes with adaptors.

Cons

  • Can’t be used on a desk because the minimum height is over 30 inches.

5 Musician’s Gear Die-Cast Mic Stand – Best Traditional Design Blue Snowball Mic Stand

This is probably the most straightforward and traditional mic stand on this list. For many users, this is still the one they’re most comfortable with using. Therefore, I included one option for this enduring design.

The stand has a nicely weighted round base and is cast in high-quality metal. This includes the clutch mechanism, which you don’t often see on these types of stands nowadays. The stand is adjustable from 2.8 to 5.1 feet and, of course, is equipped with a ⅝-inch thread and an adapter.

Old-skool cool…

Combining this kind of stand with the Snowball microphone will surely make for a very old-school look and feel. And, for around $43, it’s not going to break the bank either. If the classic microphone stand is what you want, this is one of the best Blue Snowball mic stands you can buy.

Musician's Gear Die-Cast Mic Stand
Our rating:4.6 out of 5 stars (4.6 / 5)

Pros

  • Affordable.
  • Well built.
  • Metal clutch.
  • Easy to use.

Cons

  • The base is cumbersome to carry and store.
  • Limited usability because of the height.

6 Neewer Desktop Desk Microphone Stand – Best Desktop Tripod Blue Snowball Mic Stand

If all you want is a nice desktop tripod but don’t want the flimsy one included with the Snowball, the Neewer Desktop is the one you want.

Coming in at around $17, it is not an expensive tripod. And, considering what you’re getting, it’s a bargain in anyone’s book if you ask me. For the cheapest Blue Snowball mic stand, there’s still a lot to like.

Plenty of bang for the buck…

The Neewer desktop is well-made and has a robust iron frame construction. Meaning it will be stable and will stand up to punishment over years of use. The feet are rubberized to ensure an on slip grip on whichever surface it’s placed on.

The Neewer desktop is a 3/8-inch threaded mount, but there is a high-quality ⅝-inch adaptor included. The minimum advertised height setting is 8cm, and the maximum is 12.5cm.

Considering the number of situations this stand allows the microphone to be used in, it will rank as one of the highest when it comes to getting bang for your buck.

Neewer Desktop Desk Microphone Stand
Our rating:4.5 out of 5 stars (4.5 / 5)

  • Cheap.
  • Well-made.
  • Compact.
  • Easy to use.
  • Comes with a great 5/8-inch adaptor.
  • Non-slip feet.
  • Versatility gives it great value for money.

Cons

  • While it’s collapsible and compact, it is quite heavy.

7 Aokeo AK-35 Microphone Stand – Best Budget Blue Snowball Mic Stand

Sticking to very low cost and high value for money solutions for a Snowball mic stand, enter the AK-35. This stand comes in at an astonishing $15.

Meant as a desk-mounted mic stand, the AK – 35 is made from high-quality steel and weighs in at just over 1.11 pounds. It has an anti-rust coating and a flexible, almost noiseless spring system. It even allows the arm to bend backward a little at the base.

Included with the stand are three cable clips, a thread adaptor, and a high-quality microphone clip should you want to attach something else. You might be thinking to yourself, “I won’t ever need that; I just want the stand.” Fine, but you’re only paying fifteen bucks. Consider it a bonus.

For $10 extra…

You can have a cotton pop filter and mounted pop filter included with the purchase. If you add another three bucks to that, you can have a shock mount as well.

Many will say that’s not necessary with a Snowball, and I’m inclined to agree. Still, it’s great value for money if you have other mics that can be used with a shock mount.

A great return on investment…

The stand allows for 360-degree rotation and can be attached to any desk up to 10cm in thickness. One of the most surprising figures of the AK-35 is that it can handle a weight of up to 3kg. This makes it suitable for almost any mic you can think of.

Finally, this stand comes with a lifetime guarantee from the manufacturer and a 90-day return policy. Once again, you’re paying fifteen bucks for one of the most reliable Blue Snowball mic stands on the market. So, you might as well buy two.

Aokeo AK-35 Microphone Stand
Our rating:4.4 out of 5 stars (4.4 / 5)

  • Super cheap.
  • Well-made.
  • Easy to use.
  • Lifetime warranty.

Cons

  • Only one attachment option.

8 Hola! Music Mic Stand – Best Lightweight Blue Snowball Mic Stand

We’re back to a more traditional type of mic stand. But the Hola! doesn’t just have an outrageous brand name. It also has an outrageous amount of options to fit any need and budget.

Standout features…

The Hola! Tripod Stand comes with a patented locking feet system. This will lock the three rubberized feet in place when fully extended without the need for additional screws, unlike most other stands that have locking feet.

The mic stand is well-made and ergonomically designed. Sturdy and durable are a given. The center clutch is easy and simple to operate. Furthermore, the stand can be adjusted from a minimum height of 40 inches to a maximum of 63 inches. Sitting or standing, you’re covered.

Lots to like…

The boom arm has two separate telescopic clutches. These allow for very versatile adjustments to the length of the boom arm. It can extend from 4 to 27 inches from the pole.

There is a ⅝-inch thread adapter included. Therefore, it can easily be used with the Snowball and an array of other mics. Plus, you get two clip-on cable holders. Now that we’ve established you are getting quality, let’s look at all the options available.

The Standard Option

This comes in at around $60 and includes the mic stand and two plastic cable holders. A two-pack of this version can be yours at a very reasonable $100.

The One-Handed Clutch Option

It comes in at around $60 and offers an easy-to-use, well-made single-clutch control to adjust the height of the microphone. This might be especially useful for singers or comedians with dynamic performances.

The Low Profile or “Kick Drum” Option

This one comes in at around $48 and includes the same boom arm as in the other two options. But with a shorter vertical pole and base. The Low Profile version can be adjusted to a minimum of 19 inches and a maximum of 29 inches.

Hola! Music Mic Stand
Our rating:4.7 out of 5 stars (4.7 / 5)

  • Plenty of options to suit your needs.
  • Light and compact.

Cons

  • The locking feet can sometimes get stuck.

9 Luling Arts Microphone Stand – Best Value for Money Blue Snowball Mic Stand

Perhaps one of the best desk mounting Blue Snowball mic stands on the market. The Luling Arts Microphone Stand comes in at around $24. For that money, you are getting quality and versatility that is very hard to beat.

Included with the mic stand and desk clamp are three plastic cable holders, a double layer pop filter, a microphone clip, an adjustable shock mount, and a ⅜-inch to ⅝-inch adaptor. So, it’s a great all in one Blue Snowball mic stand package that has everything you need.

The mic is constructed with high-quality metal, and the desk clamp is one of the best out there since it’s got a nice padded inside to avoid damaging your desk. Likewise, the adjusting wheel at the bottom has balled tips that don’t bite into your fingers and palms.

Upgraded Boom Arm Version

This will set you back around $38. The boom arms are reinforced with extra tubing and tighter springs. This upgrades the maximum load capacity of the arm to around 4.4lbs and adds to stability and control.

The tubing thickness has also been increased from 0.39 inches to 0.53 inches. The upgraded version has a larger contact area on its clip and can attach to any desk up to 70mm thick.

Included with the upgraded version are a microphone clip, a shock mount, a ¼ thread adaptor, ⅜ thread adaptor, double layer pop filter, and a pop filter that covers the microphone itself.

Heavy-Duty Mic Arm Version

It will set you back around $42. The heavy-duty mic arm features a hidden spring design and comes with a 5/8-inch screw adaptor.

The stand has a maximum vertical reach of 28 inches. Because the tubing has been increased from 0.39 to 0.53 inches, it can bear a weight of around 4.4lbs. Included with the heavy-duty arm are three plastic cable holders, and a screw adaptor.

Luling Arts also offer a 12-month repair and replace program. As well as a 30-day money-back return option.

Pros

  • Well-made.
  • Easy to use.
  • Very versatile.
  • Lots of options are available.
  • Well priced.

Cons

  • The included pop filter that covers the mic isn’t round, so it won’t work as well as some on the Snowball, but if you use it with another mic, it’s fine.

About Warren Barrett

Warren has spent nearly half a century (now that's a long time!) as an ink-stained wretch writing for music magazines and websites and has no plans on giving up soon.

He is curious about all types of music and instruments apart from any genre with 'Urban' in the title. He's also not so keen on Plastic Potted Plants, Reality TV, and any movies with Kevin Costner in them.

He lives in Delaware with his wife Wendy and lots of great memories...
