AfterShokz earphones are some of the most unique you’ll find on the market today. The company specializes in what they term “open-ear listening and bone conduction earphone technology”, and has been operating since 2011.
If you’re one of the many users who are trying out this new design or might be thinking of doing so, one thing will be very important. How easy are AfterShokz earphones to connect to devices and use?
I’m happy to say that the process is quite simple and easy; you can pair multiple devices to the earphones and seamlessly switch between them as your needs change.

AfterShokz Pairing – All You Need To Know: Quick Start
The AfterShokz headphones and earphones can connect to almost any Bluetooth device that uses Bluetooth 3.1 or higher. This includes smartphones, tablets, PCs, laptops, smartwatches, and televisions.
However, thee are some Bluetooth transmitters that can’t connect to AfterShokz products. If your device doesn’t have Bluetooth by default, you can use a transmitter such as the Swiitech Bluetooth Transmitter Receiver, 2-in-1 Bluetooth Adapter for TV/Car/Speaker/Home Stereo/PC to connect the device to your Aftershokz earphones/headphones.
How To Pair AfterShokz Headphones/Earphones
Start with the headphones turned off. Then enter pairing mode by pressing and holding down the volume up button (+ symbol) for five to seven seconds.
You will know that the device has entered pairing mode when the LED indicator starts flashing red and blue. Also, the friendly voice prompter, Audrey, will utter, “pairing.”
Once the AfterShokz has entered pairing mode, you can access the Bluetooth setting on your device and choose the Aftershokz headphones/earphones from the list of devices.
Pairing Aftershokz with an iPhone
Start with the headphones turned off, then enter pairing mode by holding down the volume up button for five to seven seconds. Wait until Audrey says something like “Welcome to Aftershokz” or “Pairing.” You should also see the LED flashing in red and blue.
Open the Bluetooth settings on your iPhone and select your Aftershokz device from the list. Audrey will say something like “connected,” and you’ll be good to go.
Pairing Aftershokz with Android
As before, start with the Aftershokz device turned off, then press and hold down the volume up button for five to seven seconds. When you hear Audrey say “Welcome to Aftershokz” or the like, and you see the LED flashing red and blue, then open your Android device’s Bluetooth settings.
Select your Aftershocks earphones from the list of devices, Audrey will say “Connected,” and the LED will flash blue once. Once this is done, you can start enjoying your favorite music.
Pairing Aftershokz OpenComm Headsets with NFC
The process to pair Aftershokz OpenComm headsets via NFC couldn’t be simpler. Just hold down the volume + button until you see the LED flashing red and blue. This indicates that you’ve entered pairing mode.
Hold the NFC sign on the left side of the headset close to the NFC detector on your Android device. The LED will flash blue one time to indicate that you have paired your device successfully.
The voice prompter, Audrey, will also say, “Connected.” Sometimes, you’ll have to confirm the connection on the device you are connecting to as well.
Pairing AfterShokz with Multiple Devices
The AfterShokz devices offer multipoint pairing for seamless connection to more than one device at the same time. You won’t be able to receive audio from both devices, mind you. But, you will be able to seamlessly transition between the devices.
Here’s how to pair multiple devices to AfterShokz headphones:
- To start, make sure that your headphones are turned off.
- Then enter the pairing mode by pressing and holding the volume+ button for between five and seven seconds until the LED light starts to flashe red and blue.
- Now press and hold the multifunction button and volume+ button for two to three seconds. Audrey will say, “Multipoint Enabled.”
- Next, pair first device and Audrey will say, “Connected.”
- Then turn your headphones off.
- Now re-enter the pairing mode by pressing and holding the volume+ button once again for five to seven seconds until the LED light again starts to flash red and blue.
- Then pair the second device. Audrey will say, “Device Two Connected.”
- Finally, turn your headphones off.
The headphones should now be paired to these devices. You should be able to easily transition between them as you playback your audio.
